Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort Takes Oceanfront Dining to New Heights with Botol Biru Bar & Grill Opening
Bali’s premier cliff top resort Anantara Uluwatu Bali has unveiled a refreshed new look of its signature restaurant Botol Biru Bar & Grill as part of the resort’s extensive renovation project.
Named after the bluebottle jellyfish, the spectacular alfresco venue is an ode to coastal cuisines spanning from the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean. The bar’s breezy décor takes inspiration from Bali surf culture: a surf-themed mural commissioned from a local artist and a quirky light fixture featuring a flotilla of surfboards suspended mid-air as if waiting for waves to break.
Perched on a cliff, guests gaze over reflections of azure water while tucking into contemporary fusion-style dishes. All-time favourites include seafood scooped fresh from the ocean and flame-grilled to perfection, imaginative salads, classic pizzas and bold flavours characteristic of Balinese cuisine, such as Balinese style BBQ pork spare ribs coated in sweetly fragrant black sauce and infused with layers of complex flavour. After the meal, guests can relax with a game of pool in the bar area.
A sophisticated wine and champagne menu, signature mixologist cocktails, and a live band make Botol Biru a sunset-watching hotspot. Owing to its ocean-facing location, diners are always bathed in panoramic water vistas—a view that has an almost otherworldly quality at sunset as the sky changes from yellow to orange, from magenta to purple—the colours blending into each other to a spectacular effect.
A surfers’ mecca, the cliff and beach at Uluwatu are always bustling with energy—the to and fro of the ocean waves, surfers bobbing in the lineup, enthralled spectators crowding the viewing points. And just like Bali surf spots, Botol Biru manages to be stimulating and relaxed at the same time.
