Battle of The Baristas, Indonesia’s largest sustainable plant-based barista competition held their grand finale on Friday, 21st of July at Expat. Roasters Surabaya.
Six of Indonesia’s most talented baristas secured their spots to compete for the prestigious title. Sthira Yabin from Hungry Bird, Yoga Satyadi from Butterman, Gatot from BGS Bali, Mujahidah from Setara (Kalimantan), Muhammad Faisal from Pison Jakarta and Ayu Sutharini from Expat. Roasters went head-to-head showcasing their remarkable skills and creativity.
The final stage brought an exciting twist as the six finalists faced the challenge of creating mesmerizing latte art based on surprise patterns revealed to them. Additionally, they showcased their mastery by crafting signature drinks using ingredients concealed within a mystery box.
Adding to the excitement, the grand finale featured a captivating sharing session with renowned mixologist Agung Satria (Bacardi – Martini Indonesia). Satria demonstrated his extraordinary skills in crafting exquisite mixed drinks, delighting the audience with his artistry and flair.
After an intense day of performances, a panel of distinguished judges convened to determine the winners.
- 1st place went to Sthira Yabin from Hungry Bird. He received 80 Million Rupiah (a La Marzocco Linea Mini coffee machine), trophy, certificate of achievement, and a collection of Expat.Roasters and OATSIDE products.
- 2nd place was awarded to Yoga Satyadi from Butterman, he received prizes worth 31 Million Rupiah;
- 3rd place went to Mujahidah from Setara (Kalimantan), she received prizes worth 14 Million Rupiah;
- 4th place went to Muhammad Faisal from Pison Jakarta, he received prizes worth 12 Million Rupiah;
- 5th place went to Ayu Sutharini from Expat. Roasters, she received prizes worth 5 Million Rupiah;
- Lastly, 6th place went to Gatot from BGS Bali, he received prizes worth 3 Million Rupiah.
The total prize money was valued at over 200 Million Rupiah.
