HOSHINOYA Bali – Sacred waters, healing blue light and exquisite Japanese hospitality

There are only a few places that I have been where the natural energy light is BLUE! Yes, blue. This natural light balances your Circadian rhythm, assists in sleeping and waking cycles, and overall is very calming.

A traditional, filtered Subak runs throughout the resort, so this moving water cleanses continuously and the water in the river of the ravine below the resort flows directly from the holy site of Tirta Empul.

HOSHINOYA BALI – a Japanese luxury resort brand, offers a classic Japanese experience, which in these challenging travel times is just perfect. A cultural getaway right on our doorstep!

The architecture is understated, the simplicity of the bedrooms refreshing with the most comfortable mattresses and pillows I have experienced personally in any hotel since Bvlgari, Milan back in 2009!

The meandering swimming pool reflects the amazing willows, as butterflies flit from flower to flower, unique scents, never before seen flowers thoroughly being enjoyed by these colourful “chou” (Japanese for butterfly). The landscaping is “another level”!

The spa, reachable by travelator, floats gently downhill and arrives at the lowest of the resort buildings – this is also the closest to the sacred river below. Excellent massage treatments and time spent in the Jacuzzi, listening to forest sounds, totally recalibrates one’s energy.

From one relaxing spot to another, after the spa, it’s into one of the open-fronted “birds nest gazebo’s, which slightly hang off the hillside, bringing you even closer to nature. Delicate styled food comes with Japanese or Indonesian flavours, all accompanied by a hushed, reverent service-style so renowned in the land of the Rising Sun.

After a one night’s stay here at HOSHINOYA Bali, I am totally refreshed but wish I had one more night and day, bathing is the natural blue light that this resort is part of…

HOSHINOYA Bali is ideally located just north east of Ubud close to the holy water temple of Tirta Empul and a number of waterfalls. Resort bicycles are also on hand for quiet rides in the countryside.
