True to character, the Island of the Gods once again showed its natural wonders and magical surprises through the discovery of this unique venue in 2013. During the construction of a new villa for The edge, The cave was discovered, conserved, and turned into a modern fine-dining restaurant in artistic collaboration with Ushers beyond Design. Caroline Usher and team are an award-winning interior design company that has transformed this historical cave into a breathtaking venue.

The cave offers a truly magnificent dining experience, amongst stalactites, stalagmites and crescent walls, within this incredible, natural rock formation. With some stalactites measuring over 2.5 metres long, The cave is estimated to be over 25,000 years old.

“I really think this is a unique concept, not only for Uluwatu but for Bali as a whole,” said English-born, Chef Ryan Clift. Offering more than just a fine-dining venue, The cave in addition to its epicurean flair of exquisite dining, and the exceptional rare ambiance of a Paleolithic cave, is accompanied by a mapped projection show screened on the cave’s walls, in between courses!

“I’m looking forward to bringing my modern gastronomy to this one-of-a-kind venue. I think the inspiration for this project is simple: take what Mother Nature created for you, be grateful and then do her proud. I think the guests of The cave are in for a real treat! And for me? This is an opportunity to create a world-class restaurant underground!” Chef Ryan Clift adds.
