Jia Curated Kiosks

Introducing a three-day Interiors extravaganza – Jia Curated Kiosks – Creatively connecting Communities – by Jia. Don’t miss an immersive long-weekend of art, culture, space, tastes & performances at Plataran Canggu – July 1st to 3rd, 2022.

This fabulous initiative brings together the founder of Jia by OCK, Budiman Ong and Rudi Winata with avid textile collector, Yang Yang Hartono.
Jia (Chinese word for home) is a sanctuary. We feel like home is more than just the products; it is the story ‘behind’ the food we consume, the music we listen to, the mindful experiences we enjoy, each of these add to the growth of a home – the red line of our festival. Jia Curated Kiosks will showcase over 30 wholesome home ware brands. Each of the brands has a different story to tell: who they are, their histories and philosophies. These are the things that interest us and these are the main criteria that guide us when selecting products, brands and designs.

Design for us is something that eases our lifestyle and solves the challenges that current living situations create, while at the same time respecting the traditional crafts that our forefathers have passed down over generations. We embrace collaborative value, welcome many makers and brands to this festival. Our curated artisanal workshops are: Female form ceramic workshops with Kevala; Candle-making workshop with Umah Living; Sketching sessions with Sketchy Tuesday to name just a few. There will also be craft showcases: Weaving with rattan by Vivere and Up-cycling
fabric showcases by Threadapeutic.

We have also enlisted cultural and artisanal performances during the three-day Event: Gamelan performance by prominent gamelan maestro, I Made Subandi and his troupe, Bali Ceraken; Wayang Bali Performance by an eleven year-old Balinese boy, Damar; Acoustic folk with Catnip Biscuit; Old school funk with Ika & the Soul Brothers and many more. Last but not least, there will be up to 30 food and beverage brands at Jia Curated Kiosks: Bali Phoenix, Biku, Kura Kura beer, Karusotju, lena’s Kitchen, Sababay, Savory Pasticceria, Tirtha Uluwatu and so many more.

Jia Curates Kiosks have chosen Plataran Resort in Canggu for this festival. The more than 1000m2 outdoor and semi outdoor labyrinth-like space was designed by the late, renowned landscape artist, Made Wijaya. “We love this space as the backdrop of our event as it will allow guests to wander from through the 250-year-old joglo and through antique carved doorways. This rich Indonesia architectural heritage is perfect and will add to visitors’ experiences,” says the organizing committee.

“We are aware of the importance of sustaining the creative ecosystem in Indonesia by having this initiative to curate and introduce the well-made handcrafted products to the right target markets. This is the first festival of its kind in Indonesia that gives a spotlight on home decoration of local hand-made items. One of our dreams is to help small local home-ware brands establish their identity and this festival is a platform and can be used as a market entry for their brands, whether is B to C or B to B.” Congratulations Jia by OCK – great idea!!
