“Putu PW Winata’s artworks are mostly about natural phenomenon and landscapes. He sets aside rules of realism and perspective, that way he seems to let nature grow and extend beyond his canvas. Rather than a landscape portrait, his paintings are a dynamic form of life with all the possibilities. Putu PW Winata’s painting is guided by intuition to create a symphony between color and motion that feels wild yet controlled, free but measured, random yet structured” says Arief Bagus Prasetyo, Fine Arts Curator.

‘On Putu’s canvas, we can feel the atmosphere of nature, we can remember natural phenomena, we even know (from the title of the painting, among others) that the painter talks about nature, but we cannot necessarily see nature.

Putu does not paint nature…He paints feelings about nature.’

Putu ‘PW’ Winata was born in Denpasar February 27, 1977. He attended the Faculty of Fine Arts, Metal Crafts Department, at the Indonesian Art Institute in Yogyakarta from 1995 to 1999. At the same time, his interest in the field of painting was also forged, along with his peers in the Sanggar Dewata group of which he has been an active member since 1997. His works express his admiration for the beauty and majesty of nature. Meanwhile his perseverance when exploring, practicing and experimenting within the process of self- discovery make his works become more authentic.

Putu PW Winata’s latest works are currently on display at BIASA + on Jalan Raya Seminyak 34, until 20^th December 2023. This solo painting exhibition is proudly presented by Biasa Art in collaboration with Galeri Zen1.
