Inspired by the spectacular nature of Bali, New Zealand’s White Monkey Wines came swinging from that southern island to this equatorial one, and reached Bali’s sacred grounds to share in the wisdom.
Focused on the ‘art of craftsmanship’ and the importance of being true to its roots, White Monkey Wines embodies the rich grapes of New Zealand, which has created this long-lasting ‘craft culture’. Each bottle of White Monkey Wines is a reminder of the rich culture of the arts, the rituals and stories that the Maori people brought across the ocean with them. A strong symbol of the survival of craft culture; a true living art form.
White Monkey’s Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from Central Otago, located in New Zealand’s South Island. Central Otago is one of the highest and most southerly wine-growing regions in the world, known for impressive fruit density and silken texture. The inland mountainous location provides cold winters, hot summers and long dry autumns, cultivating rich soils high in minerals and low in organic matter. This purity, intensity and vibrancy gives White Monkey’s Central Otago Pinot Noir its distinctive character.
With vibrant ruby red hues and contact with French oak, this Pinot Noir brings layer upon layer of subtle flavors that include cranberry and dark fruits, with hints of rosemary, thyme and wild dried herbs. Aromas of mushroom and liquorice fill the nose, while chalky minerals, earthy notes and a juicy cool climate acidity underpin the bouquet to create a focused frame reflective of the vibrancy of the Central Otago region.
