Back to Nature – Bali Wildlife Rescue Centre’s Ongoing Programmes…
Bali Wildlife Rescue Center (BWRC) is one of seven wildlife rescue centers in Indonesia. Currently, in Tabanan, southwest Bali we look after several protected and endangered wild animals including Bali Starling, Black-Winged Starling, Borneo Sunbear, Bearcat, Sea Eagles, Hawk Eagles, Brahminy Eagles, Bonelli’s Eagles, Cockatoos, Parrots, Crocodiles, and Gembrong Goats.
Our efforts in this conservation step are to care for and rehabilitate wild animals which are often victims of illegal trade and poaching. We provide medical care, nutrition, and a safe environment for these animals to recover from injuries or regain strength, so they can be released back into their natural habitat.
Impact on Biodiversity:
The impact of our work goes beyond the welfare of individual animals. By rescuing and rehabilitating wild animals, we contribute significantly to the conservation of biodiversity not only in Bali but also in Indonesia. We help care for various species from all islands in Indonesia that are facing threats due to habitat loss, illegal wildlife trade, and human-wildlife conflict, some of which are kept as pets or for entertainment.
BWRC plays an important role in reducing these risks and encouraging coexistence between humans and wildlife. Additionally, we are active in releasing wild animals into their natural habitat and raising awareness. This effort aims to increase the importance of conservation of wildlife and natural ecosystems, targeting schools, universities and local communities. Through these works, we hope to create a harmonious environment where humans and wildlife can live together in a sustainable way.

Although our dedication remained steadfast, financial constraints posed obstacles to our efforts. Managing a wildlife rescue center requires huge resources for animal welfare. In this case, the Bali Wildlife Rescue Center seriously seeks support from individuals, businesses and organizations who care about wildlife conservation. Harapan Project Sumbawa
Harapan Project is an NGO, that has been working since 2010, improving children’s education and health care in the island of Sumbawa (19 villages, 4.800 children).
Our main programs are:
- Medical Program: We give free medical assistance to all the sick children in the Hu’u district and implement other medical programs aimed at the entire population (Malaria, malnutrition …).
- Educational Program: We teach in the 5 local schools of the villages of Daha, Marada, Hu’u, Nangadoro and Ncangga (reading and writing, English, maths, computers, history and geography…), and carry out many sports programs.
- Social Program: We help people in situations of special need.
- School of Organic Agriculture Program: We teach local population organic gardening skills and promote that every family have their own garden for auto- consumption, providing them all the material needed. The entire cultivation process is 100% organic.
- Youth Empowering Program: We sponsor youth to get formation during 5 months stays in the best agriculture schools in Indonesia, in order to learn: Organic and Hydroponic agriculture, English, Accounting and Administration, IT skills.
