A-brunching we have come, so here at The Yak we highlight some of our favourites. From Nusa Dua to Jimbaran, to Seminyak to Canggu. Check out our Top Bali Brunches for this August, and onwards…
STARFISH BLOO BRUNCH, W Bali – Seminyak
Every Sunday, from 12pm to 3.30pm
This is one of Seminyak’s most popular brunches on the expat circuit, as it pulls out all the stops and fills in all the gaps…
Start with the “Pass Around Bites” of the Crispy Oysters – Spice crumb, siracha aioli, coriander and spring onion, or the Prawn Tempura, orange caviar and citrus aioli while you order your juices, cocktails or bubbles.
Then mosey over to the “Asian Salad Station”, which is positively burgeoning with organic goodness. Choose from one, or choose all, from the following options:
Summer Tomato and Cucumber with mix tomato, Persian cucumber, honey thyme, feta cheese, olives and fried basil.
The Asian Rujak Salad with cucumber, mango, pineapple, jicama, papaya, tamarind nahm jim.
The Pumpkin Balado Salad with roasted pumpkin, arugula, balsamic reduction.
The Fresh Kale Salad adding sweet corn, sun dried tomato, chickpeas, red beans, yuzu honey vinaigrette into the mix.
Then lastly, the Mix Fresh Lettuce with cucumber, tomato, carrot, red onion, capsicum, virgin olive oil, balsamic and honey thyme vinaigrette.
Good news for Vegans, or anyone wishing to move in that direction, is the Vegan Station, with its Roasted Bedugul Root Veg – a mix of beets, baby carrots, salsa verde, honey, thyme and vegan cheese.
Agedashi Tofu or Crispy Tofu adds soy mirin, jalapeño, spring onion and crispy sweet potato into the mix.
Then the Braised Tempe Kalasan is made with eggplant, tempe, kalasan sauce and coconut foam.
Vegetable manchow soup is up next. This hot and sour soup is spicy and great Sunday recovery fare, loaded with a mix of vegetables.
More choices are the Vegan crispy tofu katshu and homemade teriyaki sauce, sesame seed and greens or choose the Quinoa Taco – this easy, plant-based recipe is high in protein, it is vegan, and gluten free with cauliflower, tomato salsa and avocado.
Thankfully we, who still have a penchant for cold cuts and fabulous cheeses, are not forgotten with a smorgasbord of Farmhouse Charcuterie & Cheese including Salami Milano, French pepper salami, Chorizo Diablo, Beef pastrami. And on the cheese board we have: Bali blue, Manchego, Camembert, Goat’s cheese with choices of honey, dried fruits and toasted nuts. Also, alongside the cheese, find marinated mixed olives, pickled gherkins, grapes, cheese crackers and grissini and that is just for starters!!
Other stations dotting the dining area are the Ramen Station, Stir-fried Station; Sushi, Sashimi and Nagiri; the Oyster Bar; the Seafood on Ice; The Carvery; Balinese Pork Sam Sam; Balinese Carving Betutu; Local BBQ Seafood and Mongolian Seafood; Shawarma; Martabak and Steam Bun Station; Dim Sum Corner; Indian Corner; W’s Bagels, Breads and Pretzels; the magical Pastry Corner; Donuts, Danish and Croissant Corner and finally, to end this luxed-out celebration of Sunday try the Gelato and Organic Sorbets.
Starfish Bloo, set with a background of an amazing ocean view, is so comfortable that some Brunchers often find themselves staying on to watch the amazing Indian Ocean sunsets from Woobar and the Wet Deck – that’s is how chillaxed this brunch really is… From eleven to seven – the day just slips by!
THE AVOCADO FACTORY, Jl. Tanah Barak, Canggu.
