MĀUA Nusa Penida proudly presented an exceptional wine dinner on July 7th, 2023, where guests experienced an extraordinary gastronomy at KŌWHAI Restaurant. The combination of delectable dishes, expertly curated wine pairings, the expertise of master sommeliers, and the soulful melodies of the saxophone, created an atmosphere of elegance and pure delight. The restaurant’s expert sommeliers meticulously curated a selection of wines from Chile, Argentina, and Canada to complement each course of the luxurious 4-course dinner.
The culinary journey started at 7.30pm with a tantalizing amuse-bouche of Beef carpaccio and horseradish cream. This delectable dish found its perfect companion in Chile’s Carmen Wave Series Sauvignon Blanc. Its fresh, aromatic notes with tropical fruit flavors and balanced acidity set the stage for enchanting dining.
The starter course delighted every palate with Seared scallop mango, roasted garlic, parsley, and lime juice. Paired impeccably with the Trapiche Las Palmas Gran Reserva Chardonnay from Argentina, this full-bodied chardonnay boasts oak nuances, stone fruit accents, and a satisfying vanilla finish, harmonized beautifully with the flavours on your plate that will transfer you to a world of culinary excellence, where each course and paired wines created an exquisite symphony of flavours.
The culinary journey reached new heights and featured the main course with a succulent Beef tenderloin accompanied by baby vegetables, baked potato, and green peppercorn sauce. Pairing this exquisite dish with the Zuccardi Série Q Malbec from Argentina was a stroke of perfection. Its deep purple hue with bluish reflections enticed the eyes, and the intense flavours of cassis, raisins, dried figs, and blueberry jam, complemented by tobacco and chocolate notes, all balanced by sweet firm tannins, definitely excited the palate.
To conclude the evening on a sublime note, a heavenly dessert of Chocolate hazelnut mousse enhanced by a luscious raspberry coulis. This divine creation found its ideal companion in Paradise Ranch Merlot Ice Wine from Canada, which captivated the taste buds with its sweet, rich, and highly aromatic profile. Dominant notes of blackcurrants and ripe strawberries unfolded and led to a clean and satisfying finish. Petit fours chocolate truffles added a touch of luxury indulgence for a memorable finale to the dining experience.
