Vloven Patisserie – Meet Venyany, Bali’s Very Own Cake Chaser…

From ‘Interiors Architect’ to ‘Cake Maker’ is an interesting career move to make, and such a move was recently made by Sumatran–born Venyany. She is what we can describe as a modern day cake-chaser! Similar to storm chasers, she hunted down cakes, and cake know-how, across the world. Starting in Malaysia she, amongst other places, has “iced and baked” her way around Malaysia, Paris and Seoul to name just a few; always looking to give her own stamp, and style, to this sweet-tooth career.

Staring a Baking Studio just as the pandemic hit, she turned inwards and had to put the public, scholastic side of the business on hold, but being entrepreneurial ended up baking up to 35 Burnt Cheesecakes DAILY!! (And that was only because they only had two pairs of hands between them!)

Since then, the team has grown to over 15 people, each being trained up by the cake connoisseur. The business has developed and is now also a patisserie supplying hotels, restaurants, shops, catering companies and wedding venues, called Vloven.

They are still hosting workshops for the ultra-keen baker and professionals looking to upgrade their cake making and baking skills, and their studio can host up to eight people, with full day or half-day sessions on offer. For kids they recommend only teenagers apply, and thoroughly recommend these to be aged 16 and over to gain the maximum benefit of these not-so-cheap intensives – after all, this could be the start of a career or a business – that is the level we are talking about here!

Currently, Vloven has designed some quite unique, gloriously original and visual  “hampers”, one such being a fully working carousel, with cakes on each “seat” or a rather elegant, fluffy Santa scene. Definitely something to buy, enjoy and use each year as a Christmas feature.

Finally, let’s chat about some of the flavours unique to Venyany’s craft. Let’s describe it possibly as “Asian flavours with French frou-frou”…The Earl Grey Mousse teacake – divine; the Chocolate Mousse teacake using hand-picked Bali Cacao or the Vanilla and Raspberry Jelly Amour cake, all delightful, delectable and so light! Smaller petit fours are also available, and all we can recommend is to pop in to the Patisserie just off Sunset, on the other side of the road to Siloam and Lippo Plaza. We all know that seeing is believing yet, here at Vloven Patisserie, tasting can turn you into a disciple!
